Cage Night at Movement Theatre
Sonatas, Improludes and Postlude

The title of the concert alludes to “Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano” by John Cage. Composed back in 1946-1948,
this collection of 20 short pieces remains one of the most influential achievements of avant-garde piano music.

Georgia Modern and young jazz performers join together to perform music composed and inspired by John Cage. Interludes of the piano cycle are replaced by Improvised Interludes; however the structure of Cage’s cycle remains untouched. The most famous opus of John Cage – 4’33 serves as a postlude to the whole concert.
